You would think Berlin couldn’t get more vegan, but lots of new vegan stuff has popped up in Berlin over the last months. Not only do we now have a vegan bagel place for the last year or so (Two Planets here), but finally there’s some more quality fresh Mexican food, a pop-up hummus event with craft beer and a new vegan bar in Neukölln!

Neta Mexican Street Food

Neta Mexican Street Food Berlin - Vegan Nom Noms

Address: Weinbergsweg 5 (Mitte)
Link: https://www.facebook.com/www.neta.de

Neta in Mitte by Rosenthaler Platz is relatively new on the scene. They also offer meat, but they have tons of labeled vegan options, and even marinated eggplant as a topping option rather than the standard beans. I got a vegan platter that came with four homemade corn (!!!) tortillas, beans, rice, pink onions and two salsas (I chose pico de gallo and habenero mango salsa). I added extra eggplant, a side of guacamole and chips and washed it down with the tasty margarita. I think my dish was called the charola, but I can’t find the menu online now!

The taco platter with extra eggplant (7,50+1€), my margarita (6,50€) and the chips and guac (3€) all together cost me 18€. Everything tasted and looked super fresh, homemade chips that aren’t from a bag (necessary) and good guac (also necessary). The only negative point was that my margarita was only 2/3s full, which I thought was silly for the price, although it was very yummy. Would go again!

Hummus Bar Berlin

Hummus Bar Berlin - Vegan Nom Noms

Address: Castle Pub, Hochstraße 2 (Wedding-Gesundbrunnen)
Link: https://www.facebook.com/RUDYZHUMMUSBoutique

A soon-to-be restaurant called Rudy’z Hummus Boutique, Hummus Bar Berlin is a new pop-up restaurant held in Castle Pub in Gesundbrunnen in Wedding. The bar also has a craft beer bar, so you can’t go wrong. They serve a few different varieties of hummus. The day I went, I got a giant bowl filled to the brim with hummus and was offered either classic, shakshuka (no egg so it was vegan) or mushroom.  They also have colorful red beet, basil and curry sauces to add on top yourself if you’d like. I washed it down with two different IPA craft beers. Match made in heaven.

One hummus bowl will set you back 8€ and the craft beers in Castle Pub ranged from 3,50 – 5€. I personally could have used a little bit more salt and lemon juice in the hummus, but the homemade pitas totally make up for this. Excited to check out their restaurant once it’s open! Castle Pub (link) also hosts other events like a pub quiz, karaoke and a whiskey tastings.

Alaska

Alaska Vegan Bar Neukölln Berlin - Vegan Nom Noms

Address: Reuterstraße 86 (Neukölln)
Link: https://www.facebook.com/alaskabarberlin

A great new all-vegan cafe/bar in Neukölln with super friendly staff and a nice space. I’ve been there twice now for their after-work tapas on weekdays from 6-9pm. If you get a cocktail you get a tapas portion for free! See my yummy pina colada (6,50€) above with a mini vegan tortilla de patatas with homemade vegan mayo. Both were delish and the pina colada was the perfect amount of sweet (not overly sweet like from a mix). They also have sandwiches to-go (or eat there) like an avocado-tempeh sandwich, and super yummy vegan chocolate chip cookies and brownies.

They also host a bunch of events, including Vegan Brunch, Vegan Burger Queens XXL and Masa–a vegan taco pop-up event.
